anyone know if we have new assigments that I've missed somehow?

I don't think so.... she's waiting for us to 'settle down' and get on the same page and on the same line.

Ok I just hope I don't get tons of work at the very last minute! :)

She just reposted the Blog Assingment, so you can review that on elearning.

What I don't understand is what is due on Monday? It says Blog week one but I'm not sure what part is due then. Speaking of all this, we are supposed to collaborate on some of this. Would anyone like to get together either tomorrow or Monday for a Skype chat? I'm open both days. Let me know. I think talking this through would really help me get straight exactly what we are doing.

Patricia said

at 6:33 pm on Feb 20, 2011

Hey Steph -- Wk 1 is basic stuff: blog theme, select blog program, design blog (template, fonts, wigets and invite readers.... etc). I think this is our 'shell' that is due. Either that or see Note 3 from her Blog sheet

Christopher Wayne Williams said

I'm open for chat today or Monday. Call me on my Google Voice if you need to as well. 901-213-7170

How about Monday at 7pm? CST. I know a lot of people work so how about 7pm CST Monday evening. If you want to join, drop me an email or a skype message slwatson1@crimson.ua.edu or VAMOM01 Skype.

Stephanie Watson said

That's what I think too Trish but, I need some clarification so that I can do that. I want to use a blog I already have, since it applies.

Patricia said

at 6:46 pm on Feb 20, 2011

Then you need to get approval for that one. ...

As for the rest" "As a group, work collaboratively to build a Bibliography of articles pertaining to each digital strategy" OKAY Steph -- open up your 'storehouse' of knowledge. You always provide great links and info.....

Anthony Hardy said

at 6:49 pm on Feb 21, 2011

Patricia, where did you see that quote? I cannot find anything related to the "bibliography" link or the "meta-analysis" link anywhere. I have the info on the blog topic and think I know where to go on that, but I feel like I have definitely missed something.

Crystal Mealer said

at 8:27 pm on Feb 21, 2011

Anthony,
The info is in the feedback letter for Assignment 1 (on Blackboard).
"Home Page › Feedback Letters › Feedback for Topic1, Assignment 1 and Additonal Activities." It's followup to what we did in the first assignment.

Thanks! Wow, can't believe I missed that.

Stephanie Watson said

I have links :) but I somehow have brain damage on what to do. I did write "bibliography" at the top of the page lol

About Monday night Skype - I'm working the front desk at the library until midnight, so obviously I missed it. Did it even happen?

Stephanie Watson said

at 9:12 pm on Feb 21, 2011

Sorry. I was going to do it but I ended up still in the waiting room. After pneumonia, now my poor husband has the flu and he was so dehydrated. I have not slept for over 24 hours and plan to sleep until I wake up tonight, then get with the program. We could arrange another time to meet. I'm flexible -- most of the time!

pmorgan@crimson.ua.edu said

at 9:01 pm on Feb 21, 2011

Not really. I've chatted with a couple of people but not really a group. Tuesday is my reference desk night. LOL

Christopher Wayne Williams said

Don't sweat it Stephanie. I hope your husband gets to feeling better.

Stephanie Watson said

Anyone want to shoot for a skype this weekend? Pref in the evening but I am flexible.

Stephanie Watson said

at 7:27 pm on Feb 23, 2011

Yes I won't be going on my trip after all since David is so sick, and I think I might be getting it. I won't be wiped out like David though :) so I'll be here any time is good for me just let me know, and if you start it, just invite me even if you don't notice if I'm there or not as I am usually there but hiding. VAMOM01 on skype.

Stephanie Watson said

at 3:16 pm on Feb 28, 2011

I'm a bit perplexed by the wordpress invite process. Since I normally use worpdress.org it works differently I guess. But when each of you invite me, I click it and it wants me to start a new site, I have tried signing in before, and it still is weird. So I created a wordpress.com site just for you all to invite me it is consultantforyou.wordpress.com try inviting me that way and see how that works.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED TO MY ASSIGNMENT ONE?? The link above is for Blogs when it used to be something else. Ya know, this happened once before when I know I was on this wiki, signed up for a session and came back later and there was no record of my having been here. Anyone else experiencing this? (Assignment 1 was there as it was graded.....)

Crystal Mealer said

at 9:05 pm on Mar 2, 2011

Patricia - Your assignment 1 is probably still in the list of files and just needs to be re-linked to your name above. I have no idea why the link got changed, but it should be fixable...

Stephanie Watson said

at 4:45 pm on Mar 4, 2011

Hey guess what. I feel better! Letting you all know I'm going to be working hard all weekend to catch up! Skype me!

I keep reading, but I still cannot figure out, does anyone know where in the information for the last asignment listed it tells us what the difference is between an Instructional unit and a Training module?

jsfields@crimson.ua.edu said

at 8:26 pm on Apr 6, 2011

My best definition is this
INSTRUCTIONAL UNIT will require assignments of students, like teaching a class
TRAINING MODULE is telling someone how to do something, like the tutorials we've done for 566

For me, no matter if I'm teaching or training, it all comes out the same. Tell them a little, let them do a lot, tell them some more, let them do more, etc. I don't know what I will label mine as.

Crystal Mealer said

at 11:24 am on Apr 7, 2011

I agree with Xan. I think it's basically the difference between academic (instructional unit) and non-academic (training module) subject matter.

Traci Evans said

I emailed Dr. McFadden asking about assignment on April 1 and she responded same day and said she would email me back with info. Haven't gotten anything yet.

davestazel said

at 7:21 pm on Apr 6, 2011

Traci - I was just on the e-learning site and found this announcement from Dr. McFadden:

"April 6, 2011 1:48 PM
Hi Everyone!
I just I needed to let everyone know that last week I was in the hospital for a total knee replacement, so I am running on slow.
I didn't really realize what my schedule was going to be after surgery. But, I have rehab 3 times a week and then I also have to be in a continuous passive motion machine for 6 hours a day in addition to spending 2 hours a day icing my knee down.
So, all of this is to say, I may be slow to respond, but I will.
THANKS,
Dr. Mc"

That probably explains the delay in responding.

Christopher Wayne Williams said

at 2:11 pm on Apr 7, 2011

This is what Dr. Mc provided me when I asked about the difference in the 2 options: "They are similar, but I see the differences this way. In an industry, you might develop a Training module on google sites (Skill Based).
In academia/education, you might develop an instructional unit on constructivism (cognition)."

Stephanie Watson said

Where is the information that tells us which elements and tools we must add to our elearning assignment due the 21st. I think I'm done but I cannot find the thing that told us to email her what we were doing, and then what exactly to do. I can find everything but that and don't know which document it's own. HELP! :)

Stephanie Watson said

at 3:16 am on Apr 18, 2011

Never mind I don't think there is anything. :( if you know different let me know.

Tracy Miller said

at 8:25 am on Apr 18, 2011

You can find the instructions on the April 5 eLearning Announcement from Dr. Mac which states:

You will develop an online instructional unit or a training module for this assignment. You can use one the modules you developed in CSM 566 (if you have taken this class) as part of your instructional unit or training module. Doc says you might want to build your unit or module around your podcast lecture in 566.

To begin, send an email with the following information for approval;
• what you are going to develop: an instructional unit or a training module
• your unit or module subject matter/topic
• your intended audience

Stephanie Watson said

at 8:31 am on Apr 18, 2011

Yea I saw that, just doesn't do it for me though :). I'm using that and the rubric to try to figure out how much to add to this.

Tracy Miller said

at 8:38 am on Apr 18, 2011

I am creating a complete course with Welcome Letter, Syllabus, Tutorials, Working Files, Activities, Assignment Module...everything as though I am a real instructor with students. Knowing how you do things, Steph, I know you have done "A" work.

Crystal Mealer said

at 9:03 am on Apr 18, 2011

Tracy and Stephanie,
I'm just creating a "module," for a course, rather than a complete course. In my mind, this is probably the equivalent of one chapter or one section of a textbook. I am including all of the items you mention, Tracy.

Tracy Miller said

at 9:10 am on Apr 18, 2011

Once I started, I realized that the training course that I chose was not simple. I guess I shot myself in the foot. But I should be finished with everthing by tomorrow - then I will take another day or two to polish it up.

jsfields@crimson.ua.edu said

at 2:39 pm on Apr 18, 2011

Dr. Mac told me to include at least 1 Camtasia piece (in our 570 eLearning project) because uploading it was different than uploading everything else. She also put a tutorial about how to do it in the class eLearning.

Are we supposed to get these peer reviewed? If so, how do I invite anyone to do it?

Crystal Mealer said

at 2:52 pm on Apr 18, 2011

Thanks for the tip about Camtasia! I was planning to PROBABLY do that anyway, but if I had run across any problems, I would have dropped it. Now I know better.

And I don't know about peer review. I don't think so, but don't quote me on that.

Stephanie Watson said

at 3:17 am on Apr 18, 2011

everyone is so quiet after all our group projects. If anyone needs anything let me know :)

Patricia said

at 2:08 pm on Apr 18, 2011

(Someof us are STILL working on a group project (for rework).... So we don't have any room/time to focus on anything else but the current project for the moment... (I'm sure that I will be calling upon you as soona s I can load my DW

Traci Evans said

at 2:53 pm on Apr 18, 2011

I just used the material from CSM564 and created a training module from that and uploaded the powerpoint and Camtasia video.

Stephanie Watson said

at 4:14 pm on Apr 18, 2011

I found that I have more than enough material to include for practically an entire class since this is essentially my last semester. ;)

Patricia said

Are you working on your capstone over the Summer?

Stephanie Watson said

Stephanie Watson said

Traci Evans said

Does anyone know if we are to get a peer review of instructional unit or training module?

Christopher Wayne Williams said

I haven't seen any requirement for that Traci.
