PART 2 - Set up a blog based on a topic/theme in your current or anticipated career field using WordPress. If you would like to use another blog program, please get approval for your instructor. Select and use a template that is appropriate for your theme and audience. Add at least two widgets to your blog. Review blog rubric for this blog assignment. Note each element that will be graded such as hyperlinks, citations, graphics and multimedia, etc.  Also review the peer-review blog evaluation. The CSM 564 and 566 students use this form to evaluate your blogs and you will also evaluate each other’s blogs using this form. So take a look at each component.

On the class wiki, please provide:

  • your topic/theme for your blog
    • Tech Tools for Teachers
  • anticipated audience
    • teachers, student teachers
  • blog used
    • WordPress.com
  • list the widget(s) you are going to use and explain why you chose them for your blog
    • text area with pic and contact info
    • calendar
    • blogroll
    • email subscription
    • IIT Faculty Twitter Feed
  • theme used
    • Bueno by WooThemes
  • provide your thoughts/reactions (on the class wiki) about using a moderated blog versus an invited reader blog. (This is done after week 7).
    • A moderated blog might be needed for certain types of blogs due to the ability to determine if a comment is appropriate it or not. It gives the owner the access to delete any hate or slander comments that could appear. Some say it might help with spam but not sure this is a big issue. If a user is worried about the comment section of their blog then then can set it up as an invited reader. I think if you are using a blog in school then the comments might need to be moderated, but a blog like the one I did for tech tips can be open.
